Root Canal Boston

Description

When a patient comes in with a severely damaged tooth root, Dr. Meola or Dr. Maguire will evaluate whether a root canal is necessary. Our Boston offices are equipped to perform root canals in less than an hour in most cases, which preserve a patient's natural tooth. The days of painful root canal treatment are over, and we ensure that our patient's are comfortable and pain-free during root canal treatment at Dental Associates of New England.

When we do root canals, what we tend to do is the patient will see me or Dr. Maguire and determine if this tooth is restorable. Endodontist, or root canal specialists, can root canal any tooth, but you want to make sure the tooth is restorable and not fractured. They will come in and we will evaluate if the patient is in pain. We will take the nerve out, get the patient out of pain without pain, which is the nice thing, and then they'll be ready to go in for the root canal treatment with the infection under control and have the root canal treatment done in one appointment. The days of 2 and 3 appointments or 2 or 3-hour appointments for root canals don't exist for us. The average root canal appointment can go anywhere from half an hour, to 45 minutes, to probably a maximum of an hour unless it's a very unusual, difficult case. We don't associate root canals with pain anymore. We associate root canals with saving teeth.
