Dental Crowns

A decayed or damaged tooth can compromise the health, comfort, and appearance of your smile, leaving you uncomfortable and self-conscious. At Dental Associates of New England, we provide natural-looking dental crowns to restore the integrity of damaged and fractured teeth. Find out how getting a custom dental crown at our Boston, MA, practice can enhance your appearance and oral health...

A Dental Crown Can Restore  the Look and Feel of Your Tooth

A dental crown is a custom fabricated cap that fits over a tooth. The crown can be crafted from different kinds of materials, from tooth-colored porcelain to various metals. With a dental crown in place, patients experience restored ability to bite, chew, and smile.

Repair and Protect Your Teeth

Dentists typically place dental crowns to treat trauma or advanced tooth decay. The crown can restore the appearance of the tooth and protects against further damage.

Strong, Long-Lasting Materials

At Dental Associates of New England, we use high-quality materials to create crowns able to withstand normal biting forces. With proper care, dental crowns can last 10 years or more.

Beautiful, Natural-Looking Results

A porcelain crown is virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth. In fact, we can color match each dental crown so that it blends in seamlessly with your smile for outstanding results.

How Much Do Crowns Cost? The Price of Dentistry

/

At Dental Associates of New England, the cost of each dentistry procedure varies depending on the situation and materials used. The price of crowns may be different when treating damaged or decayed teeth than it is for completing root canal therapy or crafting a dental implant. Our dentists can give you a detailed breakdown of the cost of treatment during a consultation.

The Dental Crown Procedure

From start to finish, the dental crown procedure takes about two weeks to complete.

Initial Consultation

During your first appointment at our Boston practice, we'll examine your teeth and discuss your dental health goals. If a permanent crown is the ideal option for you, we can discuss the pros and cons of porcelain and other materials that are right for your needs.

Prepping the Tooth

To ensure the restoration fits properly, we carefully remove compromised structure from the tooth, leaving as much healthy material in place as possible.

Digital Impressions

We take detailed digital impressions of any prepped teeth. This advanced imaging in dentistry allows us to accurately craft dental crowns that fit snugly and comfortably.

Temporary Crowns

It takes a little time to complete a custom dental restoration. That's why temporary crowns are placed, protecting prepped teeth from harm. While a temporary crown is in place, be sure to avoid sticky candies, dried fruit, and other foods that could dislodge the restoration.

Custom Fabrication

The permanent crown is fashioned at a high-end cosmetic lab that uses expensive porcelain. The lab technicians are Japanese trained, using advanced layering techniques to ensure the porcelain is strong and looks just like real teeth.

Permanent Crowns

When the final restoration is complete, patients return to the Dental Associates of New England for the final step of the dental crowns procedure. The temporary crown is removed. Final checks for fit and comfort are made before the permanent crown is cemented in place.
